Job Title: Functional Skills Tutor (English and Maths) Location: Barnstaple, Devon About Us: We are working with a dedicated alternative provision service based in the rural settings of Barnstaple, Devon. We focus on delivering Post 16 education, emphasizing the importance of functional skills in English and Maths to support our students' progression into further education, employment or training. Role Summary: As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will deliver high-quality, engaging education in English and Maths to students within our alternative provision. You should have the passion and commitment to make a difference to the lives of young people who have diverse educational needs. The successful candidate will need to be a confident driver, willing to navigate rural areas to ensure the accessibility of education for all our students. Key Responsibilities: - Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons in Functional Skills English and Maths to Post 16 students. - Assess, record and track student progress, adapting your teaching methods to meet individual learner needs. - Provide targeted support to learners, helping them to overcome specific learning barriers. - Work closely with support staff and other tutors to ensure a cohesive approach to learning. - Utilize a range of teaching materials and approaches to maintain interest and maximize learning outcomes. - Offer guidance and encouragement to students, helping them to achieve their goals and build confidence in their abilities. - Drive to various locations as required, ensuring reliable access to education across the rural community. - Maintain up-to-date student records and provide regular feedback to students, parents, and the provision management team.
