Job Title: Learning Support Technology Assistant
Position: Learning Support Technology Assistant School Type: Alternative Provision Hours: 2 days per week, Flexible, 8:30 – 3:30 Location: Exeter Pay: £84 - £90 per day Skills: Must have experience or knowledge in at least one subject listed: Woodwork, design technology, Painting and Decorating, plumbing, Carpentry, Bricklaying or Plastering. Axcis Education are working with a new alternative provision supporting pupils at risk of exclusion, with poor attendance or struggling with the school or college environment. The provision is a workshop environment teaching vocational skills in trade-based programmes offering career/ apprenticeship opportunities when they finish education. As a learning support Technology assistant, you will be assisting the pupils on a 1-1 basis or in small groups alongside the instructor. You may be assisting in the workshop, outside, or in the community depending on the programmes they have enrolled in. You need to be someone who can build relationships with vulnerable young people, be patient, calm and adapt to their needs on an individual basis. A passion, knowledge or previous experience in Trade skills is desirable. You will be a positive role-model in the workshop to guide the pupil’s interest and tailored trade. The pupils develop interpersonal skills, solve problems, think critically and creatively as well as learning how to work as a team and co-operate with peers and instructors. You must be prepared to work with vulnerable young people who have SEND needs (Special educational needs), anxiety or behaviour/ learning difficulties. This role is to start ASAP.
