Job Title: Mental Health Support Worker

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Pupil Referral Unit in Haringey that is seeking an experienced Mental Health Support Worker with a strong background in managing challenging behaviour. Role Overview: As a Mental Health Support Worker at this PRU, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with complex needs, including those with behavioural, emotional, and mental health difficulties. You will work closely with the educational team to create a safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and personal development. Key Responsibilities: • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with mental health and behavioural issues. • Develop and implement personalised support plans in collaboration with teaching staff and other professionals. • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment. • Monitor and report on students' progress, behaviour, and well-being. • Assist in developing strategies to improve students' social, emotional, and academic skills . Requirements: • Proven experience as a Mental Health Support Worker, preferably within an educational or PRU setting. • A professional manner and the understanding of how to build self-esteem in others • Strong understanding of mental health issues and behavioural management strategies. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. • Ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. • Relevant qualifications in mental health, social work, or a related field is desirable • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
