Job Title: SEMH support Worker
We are currently seeking a caring and understanding individual to work in a Mainstream Secondary school in Islington supporting students with SEMH. This school prides itself on placing young people at the heart of their approach to education, ensuring that learning is personalised according to individual needs and this is achieved with the support of a dedicated and skilled team of staff, well supported by their Management Committee, parents/carers and other professionals.
As a Support staff member, the ideal candidate will have experience working with students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. De-escalation skills are a bonus, as they play a crucial role in creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting with academic and emotional development
• Implementing strategies to de-escalate challenging situations
• Collaborating with colleagues and support staff
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• Providing personalised support to a designated student
Requirements:
Previous experience working with students with SEMH
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and compassion
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Relevant qualifications or training is desirable
Effectively manage challenging behaviours
Competitive salary: £94 upwards a day
Working hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
