Job Title: SEND Teacher
Job Title: SEND Teacher (PMLD and Challenging Behaviour) Location: Special Schools, Barnet Area, North London Contract Type: Full-time Two special schools in the Barnet area are seeking committed and experienced SEND Teachers to join their teams, supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviours, and a range of other complex needs. This role is ideal for teachers passionate about delivering high-quality, specialised education within a supportive and inclusive school environment dedicated to helping students thrive. As a SEND Teacher, you will work with small classes of students, delivering personalised lessons focused on life skills, social development, and communication. Lessons will be tailored to meet the individual needs and abilities of each student, and will include practical, hands-on activities that support engagement and personal growth. Experience with behaviour management is essential, as you will be working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours, requiring structured support and clear boundaries to create a safe and productive learning environment. In this role, your primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing EHCPs, working collaboratively with support staff and specialists. You will assess student progress regularly, adapting learning plans as needed to ensure each student is progressing towards their individual goals. Familiarity with alternative communication methods (such as Makaton or PECS) is advantageous for supporting non-verbal students or those with limited communication skills. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in special school settings working with students who have PMLD and challenging behaviours. We are looking for teachers who demonstrate patience, resilience, and a deep commitment to inclusive education. You should be adaptable and ready to support a varied timetable that may change according to the needs of the students. A DBS check on the update service is required, or willingness to obtain one. In return, you will be part of a supportive and collaborative team dedicated to ongoing professional development. This is a fulfilling role in two outstanding special schools, where you will make a direct and positive impact on students’ lives and help them achieve their fullest potential.
