Job Title: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant - Primary Location: Birmingham, West Midlands Job Type: Full-Time/Part-Time We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school in Birmingham, West Midlands. This role involves supporting the learning and development of children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities within a primary school setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for inclusive education and be committed to creating a nurturing environment that enables all children to thrive. Responsibilities: - Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to plan and implement learning activities tailored to the needs of children with SEND. - Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with various learning difficulties, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively. - Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Plans. - Monitor and report on the progress of children with SEND, helping to adapt teaching methods to meet their evolving needs. - Support the social and emotional development of SEND students, fostering independence and self-esteem. - Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom organization to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. - Accompany and support children with SEND during extracurricular activities, school outings, and events. - Work closely with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and occupational therapists as required. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in SEND education, including awareness of relevant legislation and guidance. - Ensure the physical welfare of students, including some aspects of personal care as needed, always upholding safeguarding principles. - Engage with families and caregivers of children with SEND, providing regular feedback and supporting them with guidance and resources.
