Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is seeking dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants to join a vibrant team at a ‘Good’ Ofsted-rated primary school in Wakefield. This full-time position is available until the end of the academic year and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In this role, you will work closely with students with autism, who exhibits some challenging behaviours and struggles with social interaction. You will assist the teacher and other staff to ensure the child receives the additional care needed to aid their learning and development. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one support to the pupil, both inside and outside the classroom. Encourage the development of social skills and promote positive peer interactions. Conduct 1:1 interventions focusing on emotions, feelings, self-esteem, and worries. Assist with managing behaviour and implementing strategies to support the student’s emotional and social development. Requirements: Previous experience working with autism and SEMH is essential. Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs are desirable but not essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. A positive and proactive attitude, with a passion for supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.
