Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Level 2 and Level 3)
Position: Teaching Assistant (Level 2 and Level 3) Working Arrangement: 1:1 with Students with Challenging Behaviour and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs Employment Type: Full-time, Long-term Temporary to Permanent Start date: September 2024 Axcis education are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants (TAs) for Level 2 and Level 3 positions to work on a 1:1 basis with students exhibiting challenging behaviour and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These full-time roles offer the potential for permanent placement, providing stability and continuity for both the students and the successful candidates. Key Responsibilities: • Individual Support: Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviour, promoting positive social interactions and emotional regulation. • Academic Assistance: Support students with their academic work, adapting teaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities. • Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and mentorship, helping students to build self-esteem, resilience, and coping mechanisms. • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress, working closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to adjust support plans as needed. • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for the student. • Safety and Wellbeing: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures. Qualifications and Experience: Level 2 TA: • Education: Minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. • Experience: Prior experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is preferred but not mandatory. • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, basic understanding of behaviour management strategies, ability to build rapport with students. Level 3 TA: • Education: Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. • Experience: Significant experience working with children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour. • Skills: Advanced understanding of behaviour management, proven track record of successfully supporting students with complex needs, ability to develop and implement individualized support plans.
