Job Title: Year 1 SEND Teaching Assistant
Axcis Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Camden (NW5) that is looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team in Year 1.
This role involves working 1:1 with a pupil who has an Educational Needs Grant (ENG) due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is looking for someone who can build strong, nurturing relationships, while also maintaining clear boundaries and consistent routines to support the child’s emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
Key responsibilities:
1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with SEMH needs
Creating a calm, supportive, and structured environment
Helping the child manage emotions and develop social skills
Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies
Using trauma-informed approaches to build trust and consistency
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with children with SEMH or similar needs
A good understanding of attachment and trauma-informed practices
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
The ability to set and maintain boundaries in a nurturing way
A passion for supporting children’s emotional and academic development
