Job Title: Part Time ASD Teaching assistant
ASD Teaching assistant Job Opportunity: Part time SEN Teaching Assistants Needed in the Forest of Dean Are you experienced in Special Educational Needs (SEN), especially supporting young children? Are you looking for a meaningful, long-term role? If yes, we’d love to hear from you. We're collaborating with a Primary School near Dymock, located in the Forest of Dean, to find dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team. This role is every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, working directly with a young Year 1 pupil with severe autism and non-verbal needs. This pupil requires support to feel comfortable and re-integrate into the classroom environment. Currently, he learns in a designated breakout space with a goal of eventually re-joining his peers in the main class. The pupil is a happy and loving child who, while non-violent, can find it difficult to express his needs verbally and can become distressed easily. A patient, caring approach is needed to help him feel more settled, encourage him to eat and manage dysregulation. We are looking for two individuals who can work together to create a positive impact for this young learner as he continues on his path toward attending a specialist school, which may not occur until 2026. We’re looking for candidates who are: • Reliable and able to commit to the role for at least one academic year, Monday to Wednesday. • Experienced in working with SEN, particularly with severe autism. • Preferably knowledgeable in Makaton communication techniques. • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to handle challenges effectively. • Mobile, as the rural location requires access to personal transportation. This role is open for an immediate start for the right candidate, with daily pay between £102 and £115 depending on experience. A current DBS is essential to begin work; if needed, Axcis can assist with obtaining one. If you are interested, please email Mia@Axcis.co.uk or call 0117 4722 400 to discuss more.
