Job Title: Part-Time Tutor
Title: Part-Time Early Years/KS1 Tutor Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire Job Type: Part-time, Hourly We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with a young child in the Early Years to KS1 age range. The successful candidate will work from a Skelmersdale location and dedicate initially 2-3 hours a day, a few days a week, with the potential to progress to 4-5 hours a day. This is an exceptional opportunity for a compassionate individual to make a significant impact on a child with special educational needs. **Key Responsibilities:** - Work closely with the child, focusing on engagement through a play-based curriculum that is tailored to the child's individual needs and interests. - Utilise and become proficient with the child’s communication device (e.g., Proloquo2Go on an iPad) to support and develop their communicative abilities. - Develop creative learning strategies to address the child’s Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile and adapt to their specific sensory requirements. - Foster a supportive and nurturing learning environment that enables the child to form a secure educational attachment in the absence of the mother. - Liaise with parents and caregivers to ensure a consistent approach to the child’s learning and development, and provide regular updates on progress. - Implement tactics to manage and support the child's sensory needs in collaboration with other professionals if applicable. - Adjust and personalize educational materials and activities to enhance learning opportunities. - Monitor and record the child’s progress, adapting strategies as necessary to optimize learning outcomes. **Requirements:** - Proven experience working with children in Early Years or KS1, particularly those with communication difficulties and SEN. - Familiarity with or willingness to learn how to use assistive communication technology. - Understanding of Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and experience with children who have similar profiles is preferred. - Knowledge of sensory processing needs and experience in creating sensory-friendly learning environments. - Ability to work sensitively and effectively with children who have a significant attachment to a parent. - Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to build a rapport with both the child and family. - A patient, creative, and flexible approach to teaching. - Relevant qualifications in education or SEN support are desirable. - Enhanced DBS check will be required. - Experience with Proloquo2Go **Working Hours:** Initially, the working hours for this role will be 2-3 hours per day, a few days a week, with the potential to increase to 4-5 hours per day.
