Axcis are pleased to be working with a specialist school in Weston-Super-Mare who are looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant to provide one to one support for a Year 4 pupil with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
About the Role:
The role of a primary teaching assistant working with a child with ADHD is a vital role that involves supporting learning, emotional well-being, and social development. Each day will vary, but generally you can expect to support with the following:
• Breaking down instructions into clear, manageable steps to aid engagement and understanding.
• Provide consistent routines and clear expectations.
• Using multi-sensory approaches to engage the pupil in learning.
• Model and encourage pro-social communication and behaviour.
• Recognise signs of distress and employ strategies such as sensory breaks to de-escalate.
• Support during mealtimes and ensuring safe play during breaktimes.
• Monitor and record progress and feedback to parents/carers and teachers.
Key Details:
Salary: £83.40 - £90 per day
Hours: 8.15am – 3.30pm
Contract Type: Full-time with potential for permanent placement for the right candidate
