Axcis Education are a well-established and supportive recruitment agency seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work in a high school setting with pupils who display challenging behaviour. As a teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with challenging behaviour, helping them engage with their learning, and ensuring they thrive in a safe and structured environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and other school staff to implement strategies that support both academic and emotional development. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with the experience and patience to make a real difference in the lives of students who require additional support.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide tailored support for students with challenging behaviour to ensure they stay focused and engaged in their learning
• Assist the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and implementing individual learning plans
• Use de-escalation techniques and support strategies to manage challenging situations effectively
• Build positive relationships with students to encourage trust, respect, and cooperation
• Support the emotional and social development of students, promoting positive behaviour
• Collaborate with other school staff to develop effective behaviour management plans
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour
• Assist in the implementation of interventions and work closely with the SENCO and pastoral teams
Key Requirements:
• Previous experience working with students with challenging behaviour in a school or similar setting is essential
• A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• A proactive, flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students
• An enhanced DBS is required for this role
