Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a highly intelligent Year 8 student at a prestigious private school in West London. The student is high-functioning with ASD, and faces mental health challenges, though no formal diagnosis has been made. The student struggles with social interactions and navigating school life, and would benefit from personalized 1:1 support.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with secondary-aged students in the UK, particularly in providing 1:1 support for children with ASD. You will be patient, understanding, and able to help the student better cope with school environments by assisting with social interactions, academic tasks, and emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with ASD, helping them understand social interactions and navigate their school day.
-Work closely with the student on academic tasks, including writing and organizing thoughts.
-Offer emotional support to help the student manage mental health challenges.
-Adapt your approach to their specific needs, including breaking tasks into smaller steps and creating strategies to help them cope in a busy school environment.
-Collaborate with teaching staff and parents to ensure consistent and supportive care.
-Support the development of the student’s social and communication skills, helping them feel more confident and comfortable at school.
Requirements:
-Previous experience working 1:1 with children with Autism in a UK secondary school setting.
-An understanding of supporting students with high-functioning ASD and mental health challenges.
-Ability to communicate effectively and adapt your approach to the student's needs.
-Strong organizational skills and patience.
-Enhanced DBS on the update service (essential).
-Knowledge of Chinese would be beneficial but not essential.
