Job Title: Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant School: Primary School Location: Havering Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:20 am - 3:45 pm Description: An exciting opportunity has opened for a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Havering. This role is ideal for a kind, patient, and empathetic individual with experience working with SEN children, particularly those with Autism. You will provide both group support and 1:1 assistance to primary-aged pupils, working closely with teachers to help develop literacy, social, and communication skills through interventions like phonics and Makaton. The school has an outstanding reputation for its inclusive environment and commitment to student growth. Key Responsibilities: -Provide tailored group and 1:1 support to pupils with ASD and other SEN needs, based on their Education Health Care Plans (EHCP). -Use phonics to assist SEN children in their literacy development. -Collaborate with class teachers to plan and implement interventions that support students' academic and social development. -Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adjust as necessary to support student progress. -Assist in developing students' communication skills using tools like PECS and Makaton. -Monitor and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents. -Promote a safe, inclusive environment, encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation. Requirements: -Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (required). -Experience supporting primary-aged children, particularly those with Autism (ASD). -Familiarity with phonics to support children's learning. -Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, and sensory support techniques. -Willingness to provide personal care as needed. -Strong communication and teamwork skills. -Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain).
