Job Title: PMLD Teaching Assistant
Position: PMLD Teaching Assistant Location: Ealing, London Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday Axcis is seeking a dedicated and empathetic full-time PMLD teaching assistant to join a supportive educational team in London. This role involves enhancing the learning experience of students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), providing tailored 1:1 support, and offering group supervision. Your commitment will contribute to a nurturing environment that fosters both personal and academic growth for these students. Key Responsibilities: -Provide 1:1 support for students with PMLD, focusing on personal care, communication, and engagement. -Assist in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies. -Support the classroom teacher during lessons to create an inclusive learning environment. -Facilitate activities that promote students' social, emotional, and educational development. -Monitor and record students' progress, reporting achievements or concerns to the classroom teacher and relevant professionals. -Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure consistent student support. -Manage challenging behavior sensitively, adhering to school policies. -Assist with preparing teaching materials and setting up the learning environment. -Ensure students’ health, safety, and wellbeing, following the school’s safeguarding policies. -Participate in school meetings, training, and development opportunities. Requirements: -Current DBS certificate on the update service. -Significant experience working with individuals with PMLD. -Strong personal care skills, ensuring students' dignity and respect. -Ability to provide academic, emotional, and physical support to students. -Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. -Patient, caring, and creative problem-solving approach. -Commitment to full-time hours, Monday to Friday. Preferred Qualifications: -Relevant teaching assistant qualification or willingness to work toward it. -Previous experience in a similar role or special needs environment.
