Teaching Assistant (SEND/SEMH Support) – Special School, Newport Our outstanding special school in Newport is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Teaching Assistants. Key Responsibilities: • 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of SEND/SEMH needs, adapting your approach to meet each child's unique learning and emotional requirements. • Supporting classroom activities to ensure students are fully engaged, encouraged, and provided with the tools they need to succeed. • Developing positive relationships with students, helping them build confidence, independence, and life skills. • Encouraging social and emotional development, promoting self-regulation and positive behaviours. Requirements: • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or care setting is desirable. • Experience supporting children/ adults with SEND/SEMH needs (SLD, PMLD, ASD) is highly desirable. • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable, with a desire to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children. • Any experience with sociology, psychology, care workers and youth workers are encouraged to apply! • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists and other school staff. • Ability to manage and support students with challenging behaviours in a calm, positive manner. Additional Information: • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm. • Roles: Full-time and part-time opportunities are available. • Pay: £12.83 - £15 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. • This role is initially temporary with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
