The school specialises in working with students who face Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges and those who exhibit challenging behaviours. As part of their team, you will play a crucial role in helping these young people achieve positive educational and personal outcomes. Position Overview: Axcis Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant with previous youth work experience to join this forward-thinking school. Your experience in youth work will be invaluable in managing challenging behaviours and understanding the needs of students with SEMH issues. You will support both the academic and vocational development of students, helping to build a positive and nurturing learning environment. Key Responsibilities: -Apply your youth work experience to build strong relationships with students who display challenging behaviour and SEMH needs at KS4. -Work closely with teaching staff to plan and deliver engaging learning activities, using your creativity to support students with varying needs. -Support students during their work experience assignments, helping them develop key vocational skills and confidence. -Implement effective behaviour management techniques, drawing on your youth work background to maintain a structured and supportive environment. -Monitor and report on student progress, using insights from your youth work experience to suggest tailored interventions when necessary. -Contribute to staff meetings and the development of school-wide strategies, offering your unique perspective and experience. -Create a safe and stimulating environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential. Qualifications and Skills: -Proven experience in youth work, particularly with young people displaying challenging behaviours and SEMH needs. -A good understanding of KS4 educational requirements and the specific needs of students at this stage. -Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and engage with young people effectively. -Experience in behaviour management, with an understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH. -Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a school environment. -NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent is desirable but not essential. -Resilience and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students. -Enhanced DBS check (current and valid).
