Hours: Full-time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (PAYE)
DBS: Must have DBS on the update service
We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Mental Health Support Worker who is committed to supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence, a big personality, and a proactive approach to dealing with challenging behaviour in small classes. This role requires resilience and excellent communication skills to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support and guidance to children with SEMH needs to help them engage with their education.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to create strategies that support individual student needs.
- Act as a positive role model for students, promoting good behaviour and discipline.
- Manage challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner, using de-escalation techniques.
- Develop strong relationships with students built on trust and respect.
- Encourage and motivate students to reach their full potential, providing emotional and educational support.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Engage in professional development opportunities to deepen your understanding of SEMH and strategies for support.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including therapists and external agencies, to deliver comprehensive support to students.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and wellbeing.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience in managing challenging behaviour and supporting children with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
- Must possess a big personality and the ability to remain proactive and resilient in a demanding environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capability to work well within a team.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
- A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
- A genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of young people with SEMH challenges.
Desired Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications in education support, mental health, or psychology are advantageous.
- Previous experience in a similar role will be highly regarded.
