**Job Title: Teaching Assistant** **Location: Weymouth, Dorset** A warm and nurturing primary school in Weymouth, Dorset is currently seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will provide 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), with a particular focus on Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This position offers an immediate start for the right individual who is eager to work in a supportive and inclusive educational environment. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide tailored 1:1 support to children with ASC and SEMH needs, adapting techniques and strategies to facilitate their learning and social integration. - Collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) that cater to each child's specific requirements. - Assist with the creation of a safe, positive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that fosters student engagement and promotes independence. - Utilize a range of communication methods to effectively interact with children who have diverse learning styles and differences in communication. - Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff members and contributing to reviews of the student's development. - Promote positive behavior and support children in understanding expectations and managing their own actions. - Assist with the preparation of classroom materials, resources, and displays to support teaching and learning activities. **Qualifications & Skills:** - A minimum of a Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or equivalent. - Previous experience working with children with ASC and SEMH, or a willingness to undergo training to acquire the necessary skills. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with children, staff, and parents. - Patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to supporting the educational and emotional development of children with SEND. - Capable of working under guidance but also able to use initiative when required. **Benefits:** The school prides itself on providing a supportive work environment where the Teaching Assistant will be an integral part of the team.
