Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN PE Teacher to join our supportive and innovative team in the heart of Leyland, Lancashire. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive Physical Education program tailored to students with special educational needs. As an SEN PE Teacher, you will inspire and motivate your students to develop their physical abilities, engage in healthy lifestyles, and build their social skills through team sports and activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging PE lessons that are adapted to the needs of students with a range of abilities and special educational needs.
- Assess and evaluate the progress of each student, setting individual goals and adapting teaching methods to meet their needs.
- Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and specialists to create a supportive learning environment that fosters students' physical, emotional, and social development.
- Maintain a safe and organised learning environment, ensuring that equipment is used correctly and that health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's achievements and areas for development in PE and contribute to the wider whole-school community.
- Organise and manage PE-related extracurricular activities, sports teams, and events that cater to the interests and abilities of SEN students.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in SEN and PE teaching, attending professional development courses and incorporating new techniques into your teaching practice.
- Demonstrate patience, understanding, and empathy when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours or require additional support to engage in PE activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or a related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a focus or experience in Special Educational Needs.
- Previous experience working with SEN students is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of a range of sports, physical activities, and teaching methods suitable for SEN students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
- Enhanced DBS check clearance.
