Are you passionate about supporting children and young people who face emotional and behavioural challenges? Do you have the skills and patience to help children succeed in an educational environment? Axcis Education are looking for a dedicated teaching assistant to work with children who exhibit challenging behaviour and support them in reaching their full potential.
As part of our agency, you will be placed in a school setting where you will play a key role in providing tailored support for children with challenging behaviours, helping them to engage in learning and develop social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support children with challenging behaviour on a one-on-one basis or in small groups.
• Assist the classroom teacher in managing disruptive or challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques where necessary.
• Foster a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students.
• Help implement behavioural interventions and individualised support plans.
• Monitor and track progress, providing feedback to teachers and senior staff.
• Encourage positive behaviours and social interactions, helping children build emotional regulation skills.
• Work closely with SENCOs, behaviour specialists, and other professionals to develop and implement strategies for managing challenging behaviours.
• Support students during unstructured times, such as breaks and lunchtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Provide emotional support and mentorship to students who may struggle with anxiety, frustration, or other emotional challenges.
Requirements:
• Experience working with children who exhibit challenging behaviour or in a similar setting is highly desirable.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient attitude with a strong desire to make a positive impact.
• A clear understanding of behaviour management strategies, de-escalation techniques, and conflict resolution.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or similar) is beneficial but not essential.
• A DBS check will be required (or you must be willing to undergo one).
