Job Title: Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Pupil with Pica) – Bristol
Are you a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a child’s life? Axcis Education, a specialist SEND recruitment agency, is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with pica at a primary school in Bristol. Pica is an eating disorder characterised by the persistent consumption of non-food items, such as cotton, paper, or hair etc. While this condition requires careful management, the pupil is a sweet, engaging child who needs support to ensure they remain safe and can fully participate in the classroom. About the Role: • Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm • Long-term with the potential for a permanent position • 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil, focusing on preventing and managing pica behaviour and supporting the child in their learning • Collaborating with teachers and staff to create a safe, inclusive learning environment What we're looking for: • Experience working with children with SEND or specific behavioural needs • A caring, patient, and observant individual who can closely supervise and support the child • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with staff and parents • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one) • Any experience with pica, autism, or similar conditions would be advantageous Why work with us?
